Hurricane Season 2011
Voyage down the Southern Leewards and Windward Islands
from U.S. and British Virgin Islands to Grenada
We wanted to sail to Grenada to greatly lessen the possibility of being hit by a hurricane as we did last year in BVI, Hurricane Earl.

We left Saba Rock, British Virgin Islands on July 3, 2011 and set sail to Clarks Court Bay Marina, Grenada. It was about 1,000 mile voyage (did not sail "as the crow flys") if you include our side voyages along the way, which we stopped at a new island almost every day. Most islands we pulled into late afternoon to early evening, dropped the anchor, quick rest and left early the following morning. (Keeping in mind, we must hurry since it is hurricane season NOW!) Some islands were just to good to leave so we stayed an extra day or two to explore, provision and more needed rest. We arrived in Grenada July 30, 2011, which we found to be very beautiful, wonderful people and inexpensive for the most part. There are pictures and movies of the voyage in the photo gallery... There were litterly hundreds of photos/movies and we only selected a few at this time to give you an idea of the experience but will add more later.
These are in the Photo Gallery menu - Aug 2011 and July 2011
Our Location Today
Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada
Where we "Hang-Our_Hat" between voyages and take shelter "hide", during hurricane season...
The Google Map below does not allow me to input coordinates to zoom, only to select map names in Google Maps. We are actually located close to the upper right hand corner of the heart shaped bay.
"On the map, If you switch to the Satellite View and start zooming in a few times, while pulling the map down (to see more of the top of the map), you will see a catamaran, (it looks like a little spider) which is where we are located, on the mooring."
We purchased a hurricane safe mooring there and will use it as a place to "hang our hat" and rest between sailing voyages of the Wndward Islands and our hurricane season hang-out. Actually it is quiet, clean water in the bay for swimming and making fresh water, lots of turtles, sea life, birds and a small marina "Secret Harbor Marina" is across the bay, plus the main town is a short walk away for shopping.
Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada... A perfect spot for us, we are very happy to have this security of a mooring, many close friends and
a beautiful location.
